Synopsis
Harry is a child like any other. He is 10 years old, goes to school, likes board games and watching television. His father is a lawyer, his mother works at the university and his younger brother, "the Dwarf", is his partner in mischief.
What´s not normal is the world in which he lives. In 1976, Argentina has fallen into the hands of a military dictatorship. Thousands of citizens are persecuted and abducted. In most cases, the only crime that they could be accused of is to vocally oppose such a regime.
This is the case of Harry´s parents.
Knowing that they´re being persecuted, they decide to hide. They pull the children out of school, leave home and hide in a farm on the outskirts of the city. They imagine that time will play its part, easing the situation.
Harry and "the Dwarf" aren´t very happy with their new circumstances. It hurts to have been separated from their friends, their schools, their toys, their everyday life.
Gradually they will begin to appreciate the advantages of their particular situation. Free time to explore the confines of the farm. The chance to meet exciting and mysterious people, like Lucas, the teenager to whom his parents give temporary asylum -Lucas is also on the run-, and who they will at first distrust, but later welcome as an ally. And the need to adopt new personalities, like the heroes of their favorite cartoons; Harry, who´s real name isn´t Harry, picks that name in tribute to his idol, Houdini, King of escape artists.
But time will not work in favor. The persecutors will come nearer, hot on their heels. Cornered, their parents decide to leave them with the grandparents to remove them from the line of fire.
And when saying goodbye, before getting on the rickety car in which they will undertake the final fugue, Mom and Dad leave in Harry´s hands their favorite board game, T.E.G., knowing in doing so that they leave with him much more than a hobby. Among the rules of T.E.G. there´s a hidden secret that only Harry will know about, and that will help him resist until the sun finally rises over that winter country.
