Nine Queens

2000

Synopsis

The story of the "Nine Queens" begins at the break of dawn one day and ends the following morning. But during those twenty-four hours, Juan and Marcos will go through an experience that will change their lives, something they have never lived before, what Marcos calls "a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity".

Two small-time swindlers usually working for a few bucks will run into each other one morning and will be involved by chance in a half a million dollar business. An urgent deal that will allow no time for doubts: they have to accept it, do what it takes, grab this opportunity as it comes because they will not have a second chance. And they will play along, revealing a world of thieves and conmen, filchers and pickpockets, a jungle where everyone contributes their small share of corruption.

As in a game, Marcos´ lessons to his young and inexperienced colleague will begin to resemble what they are going through during that unusual day. Each revelation seems to hide a lie; each promise uncovers a trap. Because when deceit is the name of the game, the truth becomes an obstacle...
