NINE QUEENS
(2024)

REMASTERED IN 4K

SYNOPSIS

The story of "Nine Queens" begins one morning and ends the following morning. But in those 24 hours or a little longer, Juan and Marcos, its protagonists, will go through the experience of their lives, something they've never experienced before, something that Marcos insists on calling "one in a million." Two tiny swindlers who usually work for a few pesos will meet by chance one morning and unexpectedly find themselves involved in a business worth hundreds of thousands. A business that is urgent, immediate, so much so that it won't allow them to hesitate: they have to move forward, do what is necessary, grab by the throat the only opportunity life will present them. And they will, revealing, in the process, a world of thieves and frauds, of seekers and the needy, a jungle where no one is free from their small or large share of corruption. Like a game of Chinese boxes, Marcos's teachings to his young and inexperienced colleague increasingly resemble what is actually happening to them at every step of that unusual journey. Every revelation seems to hide a lie; every promise reveals a trap. Because when deception is the trade, the truth becomes a hindrance.
